The real place.
Great photo of the entrance to Bag End.
In Matamata, New Zealand.
Sorry, but they shot all the inside scenes in Stone Street Studio in Wellington. Anyway, even you can't really go into the smials, it's still worth a visit if you are a fan of the movies.
So fricken cool!!!
Oh, this is awesome! Is that the original one?
Yep, that is.
So, if/when you peek in the window, does it really look like in the movie?
Actually the indoor scenes were shot in the studio in Wellington, so there's not much inside.
Agh, I want to go there. I bet it's beautiful and incredible! Your photographs are amazing, too!
omg!!! you visit Hobbiton in MataMata! ;AAA; *so jelly* XD
is a great pic of Bag End !! ;AA;
excuse me... but that place is permanent? if i go in two years more may be i wll see the same?
Yes, the film makers decided to make it permanent before shooting The Hobbit. So you'll almost see the same set as it is now.
What other places you visit in New Zealand? you can recommend me a place? *u*
The main reason I went there wasn't travelling so I only visited the North Island. I think the area around Rororua and Taupo are worthy of a trip. And as a fan of LOTR and Hobbit, you can't miss Weta Cave in Miramar, Wellington. I believe the South Island has many more attractions, you may take a look at this site: www.newzealand.com/int/
I was lucky enough to visit as well. I'm so glad they kept that place.
I wanna live there. Really.
So this is like the place that shot the movie?
OMG. So jelly. I would have hidden inside one of the holes, perhaps in a closet... they'd never make me leave >_<
The tour only has less than 2 hours...But I want to stay there forever!
