Far over the Misty Mountains cold,
To dungeons deep and caverns old.
We must away ere break of day,
To find our long forgotten gold.
The pines were roaring on the height,
The winds were moaning in the night.
The fire was red, it flaming spread,
The trees like torches blazed with light.
I am doing a project about illustrating Tolkien's songs and poems at the moment. This is one experiment. Background texture was drawn using watercolor and then digitally combined with the black frame.
Also, I'm so looking forward to The Desolation of Smaug!

Last night I gave this illustration as gifts to Richard Armitage, Luke Evans and Jude Fisher in a fan event. That's the best thing ever happened to my art.
This is absolutely gorgeous!! a lot of times in fantasy pieces people tend to go for darker reds and browns and blacks. I love the use of color and the swimming watercolor affect. You really love your greens I just wish there was a bit more red to really (not overwhelm) explode on the page. Great work one of my favorite pieces from the hobbit.
Oh, that's so pretty! I love the rainbow effect
Looks like a window a certain Hobbit probably had installed in his Hobbit-Hole when he got back. Excellent
This is great! Love the colours, and how they contrast with the black silhouettes and outlines
This is beautiful, you've done an amazing job here!
WHOA! Amazing! *-*
