For some reason I've always visualised Luthien with blond hair. Even though I know that it says over and over that her hair is dark, it still appears to me as blond. And yet, with this drawing, I think I'll be able to picture it the right colour now Thank you. And greetings from another die-hard Lord of the Rings fan. Couldn't like without it.
I'm glad this can make you picture the right hair color. I found Tolkien very fond of black hair and grey eyes...well, I like the idea of black hair, because I have it too. Blond is also beautiful, so we see Nienor or Eowyn, these great ladies blond.
Luthien is a character by Tolkien also, she and Beren are the first Elf-Man couple in Middle-earth. Their adventure is an old story ages before the story of LotR, and they're in some way Aragorn and Arwen's ancestor.
In a simple sentence, Luthien and Beren's grand-daughter is mother of Elrond...
Hehe, can't resist jumping in here and saying exactly how they're related . Beren and Luthien are the first Elf-Man couple, followed by Tuor and Idril. Beren and Luthien have a son, Dior, who then has a daughter, Elwing. Tuor and Idril have a son, Earendil, and Earendil and Elwing's children are Elrond and Elros. Elrond, as all should know, is Arwen's father, and Elros is the ultimate grandfather of Aragorn, being the first of the kings of Numenor. Yay for being a complete and utter Lord of the Rings nut!!
Hehe, you really know your stuff! Thank you for the quick explanation. You may have already noticed I'm not that much of a LotR fan. I enjoyed the movies, but that's as far as it goes *waits for lightning to strike me down*
